Finding Harmony in the Construction Process

Finding harmony in the construction process.

In 2008 St. Mary’s Episcopal Church selected Mashburn Construction to build their new 7,300 SF sanctuary. After the initial contractor selection the project came in nearly 30% over budget so Mashburn was charged with working closely with the Church architect and design committee in an effort to reduce costs and help move the project forward. By proposing a concrete tilt panel construction technique, Mashburn was able to meet the project budget, improve the overall quality, and improve the scheduled completion date. This specific approach worked well at St. Mary’s, but Mashburn is committed to finding the most appropriate solution for any size church project by working with the design team to reduce the overall budget without compromising quality.

While the construction method may be new, the design of St. Mary’s sanctuary is quite traditional and includes subtle details to highlight the building’s beauty and timeless quality. High-end finishes, cathedral ceilings and stained glass windows pay homage to the sacred space; exquisite red oak floors create a warm and inviting ambiance for worshipers. Mashburn worked closely with an A/V consultant to ensure proper installation of advanced audio systems throughout. And, due in large part to the strong collaborative spirit formed while Mashburn provided pre-construction services to the Church, St. Mary’s was finished ahead of schedule and under budget.
