Caviar & Bananas
Greenville • South Carolina
This new 4,700 square foot restaurant is the largest store and first location outside the Owners' hometown Charleston market. The space includes: full kitchen; bakery kitchen; salad station; two coolers; a freezer; barista & espresso bar; wine bar; dining area and multiple product displays. Originally this was three separate tenant spaces; the project team worked with multiple elevation changes within the spaces to install the large amount of kitchen equipment provided by the Owner, including a 2-ton scrubber unit that was hung from the ceiling. The entire second floor slab was X-rayed to identify the post tension cable locations so they would not be damaged when the scrubber was anchored.
Special design features include tile on almost every surface and high-end cabinetry as well as mixing tile, wood, steel, stone, concrete and stainless steel, which gives the space a simple but refined feel. The floor plan weaves visitors through different areas including dining, retail displays and space for mingling. A mezzanine was constructed over the kitchen to maximize the space required by the Owner for operations.
Mashburn scheduled on-time deliveries for this project and installation organization was a top priority. Our team maintained a zero disruption policy throughout the entire construction period. This project was completed under a very aggressive schedule and was finished in time for the advertised opening date despite numerous challenges throughout the project. During preconstruction, our team completed an extensive value engineering process to reduce the cost to the Owner significantly.
