$25 million project celebrates completion in the Main Street District

Columbia, S.C.— On Tuesday, January 29th, Mashburn Construction celebrated the completion of their latest project and the largest non-student residential development ever built in the central business district of Columbia. The $25 million project, dubbed 1321 Lofts is a luxury apartment complex with spectacular city views, excellent amenities, and convenient downtown living. The complex is located at 1321 Lady Street totaling 130 units ranging from $950-$1250 per unit, per month.

Lee Mashburn, President of Mashburn Construction says, “This was truly a team effort and would not have been possible without the countless hours put in by the Mashburn team on site and our sub-contractors and suppliers who jumped through hoops to make this happen.” Mashburn deployed an extremely aggressive timeframe after the start of construction for a year end completion.

The special day also celebrates the 20th anniversary of Capitol Places; a mainstay in downtown living developments in the main street district since 1998. In 20 years, Capitol Places has repurposed close to half a million square feet of buildings and added an additional 50,000 square feet to existing buildings. Within these buildings, the group has created over 375 residential units and almost 30 commercial spaces.

“Downtowns are iconic and powerful symbols for our cities. The Main Street District has an important role in the economic and social development and we have been able to help create a critical mass of activities to make Main Street Columbia a 24-hour city. 1321 Lofts will set a new standard for living downtown and truly is a unique project," says Jeff Prioreschi, co-founder of Capitol Places.

1321 Lofts represents Capitol Places 6th joint venture project in the Columbia market and the 8th one with Mashburn Construction specifically. “It has been a pleasure working with the Mashburn family and Mashburn Construction bringing new life to many of these buildings,” says Prioreschi. Mashburn credits the City of Columbia for their assistance saying, “A project like this is not possible without tax credits and other incentives that had to fall in place. We are grateful for the City’s help throughout this process bringing this project from permit to completion. Mashburn continues to transform downtown Columbia with revitalization projects coming out of their Upfit division.
