West Columbia, S.C.— The South Carolina Pediatric Alliance (SCPA) and Mashburn Construction are holding a ground breaking ceremony at the future home of the South Carolina Lactation and Newborn Wellness Center on April 11, at 6pm. The site is located at 3585 Sunset Blvd, West Columbia, S.C.

The 6,000 square foot facility will encompass 3,500 square feet of finished space and 2,500 square feet of classroom space also marked for future expansion. Mashburn Construction’s scope includes building and site work.

The facility has been designed to create a sense of calm, relaxation, and even pampering for new families using natural light and open space, along with comfortable furnishings. Furthering this, SCPA will offer high quality professional support with unhurried appointments using more time with caregivers for questions and reassurance. The Lactation and Newborn Wellness Center is an autonomous practice, completely separate and unique from other medical offices owned by SCPA. The primary focus will be care of families with infants experiencing feeding difficulties. The mission of the center is to serve as a community resource for families, as well as other health care professionals, through collaborative care.
