Columbia, S.C. – Mashburn Construction is currently developing the new location for the iconic “No Name Deli”. The longtime Columbia sandwich shop will move from their existing location off Elmwood Avenue just a few blocks away.

At the corner of Laurel and Sumter Streets, a previously vacant pair of buildings is undergoing extensive renovations, finding a new life as the home for No Name Deli. Careful demolition by Mashburn Construction has uncovered historic details and materials hidden for years that will be restored as part of the project. The owners, Chris Davis and Jon Sears have worked with Lee and Paul Mashburn to purchase the property and partner together to revitalize a once thriving area in Columbia.

The renovation includes combining two existing buildings into one cohesive dining experience. The new building will include covered outdoor seating, expanded parking options, and an expedited “to go” experience. The owners of No Name Deli, Jon and Chris share, “We are honored to partner with Mashburn Construction on this historic project and are truly excited about our upcoming move to Sumter Street. While our team and our menu will remain unchanged, we believe the enhanced layout and expanded parking will significantly elevate the overall dining experience for our guests.”

The Design Initiative Group (DIG) is the Architect for the project and is working closely with Christy Davis Interiors on creating a new version of the classic “diner experience”. A mixture of exposed ceilings, historic glass block corners and nostalgic flooring will offer something for those who already call No Name Deli “home”, and for those looking to find their new favorite lunch place.

Mashburn Construction intends to deliver the fully renovated building by the end of December 2025. The deli will welcome patrons shortly thereafter.
