This project was a historic renovation of the Owen Building into a 130-unit apartment complex. The complex features a resort-style saltwater swimming pool, sundeck, grilling area, theater room, Wi-Fi lounge, a fully equipped fitness center and a bicycle storage area. The project posed significant challenges. The owner required the project be completed before the close of 2018 (approximately 13 months schedule) in order to acquire historic tax credits through the National Park Service. Even with extensive abatement, complete interior demolition, structural rework, and upfit of the entire interior, Mashburn Construction transformed an abandoned office building into a chic new apartment building with a historically restored exterior matching its original 1949 condition.
