Chapin Town Hall

Chapin, SC

The new 15,000 square foot Chapin Town Hall combines the town’s police station, courthouse, town hall and meeting area in one facility. The police station includes offices for the police and judge as well as for the Clerk of Court. In the courtroom, custom wood paneling surrounds the room and comprises the judge’s bench and jury box. The meeting area includes a large multipurpose room with a stage for gatherings and functions; the windows in this area are controlled remotely and can be raised with the push of a button to view the woods and ponds outside.

The main reception desk was designed with custom wood and granite countertops, and glass paneled walls provide an open feel in the area. To provide ease of access for customers wanting to pay their utility bills, a drive-up window was also included as well as a separate side entrance into the facility. One full kitchen was allotted for the meeting area, while two additional kitchens were included for the police and administration areas. Security measures in the facility include a metal detector in the courtroom and key fob entrance throughout the complex.

Mashburn also provided site development for this project; future plans include walking trails and an amphitheater around the pond areas.
