Greer High School Weight Room
Greer, SC
Mashburn constructed a 10,500 SF addition to Greer High School. The addition housed a weight room and multi-purpose room for students. The structure was a load-bearing masonry structure with a built-up roofing system. The exterior brick veneer was made to match the exterior of the existing school. The addition featured a rubberized floor in the multi-purpose room and Tuflex floor tile in the weight room. The interior walls of the space were painted CMU. Mashburn also converted the existing weight room into a girls’ locker room and training room. The training room featured therapy tubs for the sports training program. The addition was built at the existing bus loop drop off for students. The bus loop was operational which restricted delivery and general access to the jobsite for several hours of the day. While preparing the subgrade of the permanent bus loop, it was discovered that the soil was bad and required remediation. This discovery, along with the weather conditions, caused the paving to be delayed. As a result, Mashburn provided the buses with an alternate route and helped guide buses and students.
