Harris Teeter Retail Complex
Isle of Palms, SC
This project included the demolition of an old IGA grocery store, new construction of a 24,000 square foot new Harris Teeter grocery store and façade renovations of the entire retail complex. The accelerated schedule was compressed further when the initial tenant (Piggly Wiggly) was acquired by Harris Teeter midway through the project, requiring new design of the store layout and demolition of the work in place. Despite the unique attributes of the project, the grocery store was completed on time.
The retail complex, which provides the only grocery store on the Isle of Palms, also offers office and restaurant spaces. Project materials included new CMU and steel building, decorative brick, tabby finished stucco, hardi board siding and metal wall panel façade, and standing seam metal roof.
Mashburn worked diligently to minimize disruption to the operating businesses adjacent to the new store. We held weekly update meeting with the neighboring businesses as well as the property manager to keep them informed on construction items.
