Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church

Chapin, SC

When Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church realized it had outgrown its 200-seat sanctuary, they hired Mashburn Construction following an extensive preliminary bidding and interview process. Mashburn completed a one-year preconstruction process with the Owner and design team, which allowed us to explore ways to save them time and money. The project included a new 12,000 square foot sanctuary with seating for 650. Features of the building include a Bride’s Room, separate chapel, sacristy, cathedral ceiling, polished concrete flooring, brick veneer and a tower/steeple. The scope of the project also included extensive sitework and a fire pump for the new sprinkler system.

Mashburn worked closely with the Owner’s vendor on refurbishing the 100-year old stained glass windows; this took extensive coordination to assimilate our modern construction methods, standards and details to comply. Our team also coordinated closely with the Owner’s Audio/Visual vendor to provide adequate accommodations for their work and coordinated structural and architectural provisions with their liturgical consultant and their vendors. This included considerations for the altar, Stations of the Cross, crucifix and confessional. Special trims and pew refurbishment and installation were also coordinated with the Owner. The site logistics plan was developed early and was maintained through daily interactions with the Owner on site. The project was completed on a tight site next to an existing facility. Our team maintained parking and traffic flow in and around the facility for numerous scheduled and unscheduled events which ultimately minimized our footprint and disruption to their existing operations.
