SC State Fair Goodman Building
Columbia, SC
The 35,000 square foot Goodman Building is a new addition at the S.C. State Fairgrounds. The facility was constructed adjacent to the Cantey Building to provide maximum exhibit space and ease of accessibility for patrons and vendors. Connecting the two buildings is a covered walkway and central tower that leads to a new twin canopy entrance to the two buildings. The new walkway and tower also offers an updated look to the overall appearance of the area.
Two internal walkways also connect the Goodman & Cantey Buildings to offer a 70,000 SF exhibit space; these walkways serve the additional purpose of concealing a usable and easily accessible mechanical yard between the two buildings.
This project also included demolition of the old Rosewood Entrance in front of the Rocket and Hampton Building to provide room for two new ticket booths and a multi-use courtyard.
