Canvas Lofts announces official completion of multi-million-dollar community investment
Greenville, S.C.— On November 17th, Mashburn Construction and The Beach Company officially announced the completion of Canvas Lofts, a new large-scale mixed-use development in downtown Greenville. The Canvas Greenville development is strategically placed on the corner of Buncombe and Whitner Streets, across from Heritage Green, Greenville’s cultural epi-center.
Canvas Greenville includes the now-famous Canvas Tower Office Building with its mural, the Canvas Townes, and the Canvas Lofts mixed-use building.
Canvas Lofts is a 4-story, brick-clad building containing approximately 22,000 square feet of retail space and 48 units of multifamily housing. The multi-level mixed use building was constructed in just 18 months. This infill site serves as an economic driver for the growing area and thoughtful transition to the well-established surrounding neighborhood. Canvas is helping “bridge” the energy of downtown across Academy Street as well as acting as a starting point for the much-desired Poinsett Highway Corridor revitalization efforts. Antunovich Associates of Chicago was the architect for the Canvas Lofts. The design of the retail and multifamily building is a nod to Greenville’s roots with unique design facets throughout the building.
“Canvas Lofts’ superior architecture and exceptional quality are befitting of the property’s prominent location as a gateway to Greenville’s renowned downtown,” says Tim Cotter, Development Manager for The Beach Company. “Mashburn Construction shared our vision and had the ability to execute a project of this caliber. We have been pleased to have Mashburn as an integral team member throughout the design and construction of Canvas Lofts.”
In addition to the Canvas Lofts project, Mashburn also completed a sitework package for 31 townhomes along Whitner Street.
Seamon Whiteside & Associates served as the civil engineer and landscape designer for the Canvas Greenville Development.
