Mashburn Construction Completes Multi-Use Development in Myrtle Beach

Myrtle Beach, S.C. — Mashburn Construction recently completed the ground-up construction of a multi-use development in the highly trafficked area of Broadway at the Beach, in Myrtle Beach, SC. Rooted in Gulf Shores, AL, “The Hangout” is the first of its kind entertainment concept in the Myrtle Beach area and promises fun for guests of all ages.

The Hangout, located in the Key West Village at Broadway on the Beach, is a 40,000 square foot development which includes retail spaces, a full-service restaurant, and live entertainment to go along with their unique outdoor activity areas. Mashburn collaborated with Burroughs & Chapin, LS3P Architects, and local artists to provide unique art installations, such as a Pez dispenser wall, a rubber duck ceiling, a 15-foot wishing wall, and a wall donned with antique lunchboxes. Mashburn and LS3P also installed an extensive lighting package that customizes experiences to be representative of each performance.

The two-story, main building was constructed utilizing a structural steel frame with metal decking and metal stud infill. On the first floor of the building is the main dining area, commercial kitchen, retail space, a stage, and overhead doors that connect the indoors to the outdoor patio. The second floor has a DJ booth and soundboard that enables guests to enjoy performances taking

place on the stage below. The main building opens to a sand pit, fire pit, foam pit, tower slide, ice cream parlor, and the Main Event Stage – located over the water. Guests can enjoy an exceptional entertainment experience from the Main Event Stage while lounging in adirondack chairs sown throughout the turfed listening area, or while situated at the porch bar on the second floor of the main building. Three ancillary buildings surround the main building. These buildings house a speed bar, another stage, and an arcade.
